The biggest killer in Australia

The following table shows the percentages of causes of death (Aust Bureau of Statistics, Report on Causes of Death), with ABS figures on infant deaths and 80,000 abortions added.

These figures do not include the substantial number of abortions which are performed in public hospitals on public patients. The cost of these abortions is absorbed within the hospital's general budget, and therefore, there are not figures on the number of such abortions, nor the cost to the taxpayer.

In South Australia, however, ALL abortions must be reported. In 2000 a total of 5,605 abortions in South Australia attracted Medicare benefits. But the reported number of abortions for 2000 was 1,500.

Thus it seems that the real number of South Australian children who died that year is three times the number reported.
