What if the father wants the baby but the mother doesn't?

Do the mother and the father both desire the killing of their baby to the same degree? That is virtually impossible. One usually wants to be free of the baby more than the other.

If they kill the baby, then that degree of difference will eventually grow and become a wedge between them.

Unfortunately for the father he has no rights whatsoever and no say in whether his child can live or die. Recourse to the courts has shown that the mother's wishes prevail, and the father was viewed as interfering in something that he had no business with.

Men in this situation often need grief counselling and unfortunately the counsellor may be the only person who understands him and gives him permission to grieve.
